Integrated Employment Job Developer

Job Developer - Full time

Position Summary: To work with area businesses on identification of employment opportunities that match each participant’s talents and employment preferences; resulting in successful Integrated Employment placements.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain accurate case notes and log billable hours for assigned participants.
  • Actively engage in business development results in job placement for PIE Participants.
  • Facilitate job placement by taking part, as necessary, in the application and interview process.
  • Identify participants’ barriers to job placement and retention and provide advice and consultation as needed to both employees and employers in overcoming those barriers.
  • Work with participants on job related skills such as grooming, socializing, accepting supervision, etc.

  • Maintain clear records and follow-up plans for calling on local businesses related to employment opportunities.
  • Complete required reports and data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Network with community resources to broaden integrated employment options experiences for participants. Engage in on-going communication with resource contacts in order to build cohesive partnerships and market integrated employment services.
  • Serve as a role model for integrated employment staff and participants.
  • Possess a current knowledge of careers Policies and Procedures and use this information as a basis for professional decisions.
  • When driving practice safe and lawful driving standards.

Qualifications:

Professional Skills and Abilities: Ability to develop and implement program requirements according to funding specifications. An understanding of how to proactively partner with area businesses. Independent decision making capabilities. Ability to consistently display professional and respectful conduct when working with the community. Solid knowledge of disclosure laws and tax incentives related to integrated employment. An understanding of how to proactively partner and network with area businesses. Ability to consistently display professional and respectful conduct when working with participants and the business community. Knowledge of EEO, DOL and ADA laws. Good oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, Internet access etc.). Ability to efficiently complete multiple duties. Ability to remain calm and objective in all situations. Ability to market integrated employment in a professional manner that instills public and stakeholder confidence and support.

Disability Related: Solid understanding of best practices related to integrated employment. Knowledge of DVR and long term care funding requirements. Knowledge of the disability field, including participant rights, person-centered planning, school to work transition, guardianship and current academic theory. Knowledge of the causes related to a disability diagnosis and awareness of best practices for working people who have a disability. Knowledge of positive approaches for modifying behavior. A solid understanding of “universal precautions” as they relate to health, safety and personal care.

Miscellaneous: Tolerance for working outside regardless of weather conditions (i.e. wetness, dust, cold, etc.). Ability to work occasional nighttime or weekend hours.

Education & Training: High school diploma required. Associate Degree in Human Service or related field and/or two years of experience working with adults with disabilities, preferred. Experience in the area of Integrated Employment desired.

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Reach overhead and in front, crouch, bend crawl, ambulate, kneel, twist, stand and sit.
  • Lift up to 50lbs and push or pull up to 300lbs.
  • Ability to reach overhead and in front.
  • Physical stamina.
  • Have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License & required auto insurance.
  • Ability to drive a car or van independently to various locations.
  • Work both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work occasional nighttime hours and weekends.

Other Duties: Other job duties as required.

Measures of Success:

  • PIE participants are successfully placed into integrated employment.
  • Annual business surveys show satisfaction with the PIE job development process and follow-along activities.
  • All requested and/or required reports/data are accurate and processed/submitted in a timely manner according to established standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a consistent role model to others by consistently following established agency policies and guidelines.
