Racine - Fulfillment Services Vocational Trainer

Department: Fulfillment Services

Position Summary

This position supports Participants (Adults with disabilities) to maximize his/her vocational potential along with production needs.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise and work with assigned crew/line to ensure quality product/services are delivered in a timely and efficient manner according to customer and supervisor’s directives and specifications.
  • Provide crew/line with clearly stated, or modeled, directions and expectations.
  • Train crew/line in appropriate work habits and skills necessary to fulfill expectations and vocational development.
  • Adapt and modify workstations/job site to maximize potential and minimize limitations related to crew/line success.
  • Work in partnership with Careers’ Case Management to assure that FS/AI participants are receiving services that maximize his/her potential.
  • Exercise a flexible/positive approach and attitude toward scheduling and formation of crew/line.
  • Monitor environment to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records as assigned to meet department and customer requirements.
  • Provide operational recommendations, concerns, crew/line or customer information and communications to Supervisor/designee.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance rating.
  • Maintain positive/acceptable interaction standards with all agency/customer employees and visitors.
  • Consistently adhere to agency policy, workplace rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Represent the department in committees and meetings as assigned.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and medication supervision as needed.
  • Provide routine first aid according to policy.
  • Maintain forklift certification and perform shipping/receiving as needed.
  • Be flexible in start and finish time during the absence of the Production Driver.
  • Conduct participant training sessions in a professional that engages participants and teaches new skills.

Qualifications

Professional Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of abilities and functional limitations faced by employees with disabilities. Ability to supervise and motivate employees with developmental disabilities. Interpersonal skills and organizational skills necessary to meet production demands. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills.

Education & Training

High School diploma of equivalent required. Willingness to work in a variety of employment settings and locations required. Experience working with adults with developmental or similar disabilities in a vocational setting preferred. Previous industrial experience and fork truck certification desired.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Ability to balance, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, kneel, twist, stretch, stand and sit.
  • Ability to reach overhead and front, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 300 pounds.
  • Ability to independently and spontaneously travel to various locations.
  • Have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Drive agency vehicles as required by customer demands and production schedules.
  • Deliver product in absence of Production Driver.
  • Access to independent and reliable means of travel.
  • If using own car, adequate auto insurance.
  • Driving requirements may be waived per Director of FS authority if driving responsibility not required as part of essential job duties.
  • Obtain training/certification/license for industrial vehicles.

Measures of Success

  • Maintain accountability and professionally communicate with participant employees, staff and internal and external customers.
  • Adherence to, and retention of agency policy, workplace rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties accurately and in a timely manner.
